Essaouira is located 170 Km from the city of Marrakech along the Atlantic Coast of Morocco. Founded by the Phoenicians, it was one of the ports of Romain empire, the city then became the Portuguese colony during the seventeenth century. The visit of Essaouira Mogador according to the old name, starts from the port, dedicated mostly for fishing, one of the busiest parts of the city, and then you get to the city the door of the Navy and the Sqala. Essaouira had been classificated as a heritage of humanity by the UNESCO. The medina is surrounded by huge walls that protect it from winds and which was built on the Portuguese colonization. From Marrakech you can reach out go for one day trip to one of the most amazing sights of Morocco: the waterfalls of Ouzoud. Located approximately 150 km north-east of Marrakech, the falls are near the village of Tanaghmeilt, in full High Atlas. Their name in Berber means ’to grind grain’. It starts in the morning from your hotel and proceed to the highest waterfalls in Morocco: fall from a height of 110 meters, offering an amazing view. The walk will be arriving to the base of the falls; comfortable shoes are recommended for hiking. For lunch there are many small cafes that overlook the splendid panorama. In the summer months the area is a heaven to escape from the heat of the city; you can refresh yourself in the crystal clear waters. In the spring the water level rises considerably.
